ZT-010 COTOPAXI NATIONAL PARK (6 HRS. DAILY)

Image Drive south through the Avenue of the Volcanoes to the base of the Cotopaxi volcano, the highest active volcano in the world. Cotopaxi was established as an ecological sanctuary with unusual opportunities for nature lovers. If weather conditions permit, it is possible to reach the lake of Limpiopungo: one of the most beautiful spots of the area. Lunch at an old hacienda.

ZT-011 COTOPAXI BY TRAIN (FULL DAY, ONLY SUNDAY)

Transfer to the south of Quito at Chimbacalle train station where the train awaits (approx. 8h00 am), then under steam locomotive trough the Avenue of the Volcanoes to El Boliche station. Continuing by car (approx. 25 km.) into the Cotopaxi National park. The park is some 320 hectares loaded with Andean wildlife. Observe huge herds of llamas and wild horses. Reach the great plateau of Limpiopungo: one of the most beautiful spots of the area. Enjoy super views of the highest active volcano on earth. Lunch at the nearby La Cienega, a 300 year old hacienda turned into country inn, then drive back to Quito.

Return back to Quito by steam locomotive starting from El Boliche station at 14h30 pm., arriving in Chimbacalle station (Quito) at 17h00 approx. Available without supplement.
